  28. The iSlide Pro Studio is a java application and an environment
  29. for developing your website navigation files and pages.
  30. An application is not applet. That means that it will not 
  31. work if embedded in an HTML page. A java application, like 
  32. any other programme, is designed to run on a single computer 
  33. in a stand-alone fashion. A java application uses a stand-alone 
  34. interpreter called a java viewer to run on the file system. 
  35. It does not use a browser. The java viewer is part of the 
  36. operating system and should already be present on your 
  37. computer. For further information, please refer to the 
  38. HTML documentation contained in this package or see below.

  40. The package also contains a number of trial applets which
  41. you may access via the documentation. The applets are
  42. indeed applets, and therefore run in webpages and on
  43. intranets. The applets are much more widely tested and
  44. widely compatible than the development environment. This is
  45. because you will only need the development environment on
  46. your own computer, but the applets will have to stand the
  47. test of being used by everyone who visits your website.
  48. The applets are therefore JDK 1.0.2 compatible and can be
  49. used on java-compatible versions of Netscape 3 and MSIE 3
  50. as well as the later versions of these and other browsers.

  53. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS FOR iSlide Pro Studio
  54.  
  55. The application has been optimised for a 800x600
  56. screen. A smaller screen will not work. A larger one
  57. is OK.
  58.  
  59. You must have Microsoft's java viewer version 4.79.2339 
  60. or later installed in the main Windows directory (not
  61. a sub-directory). The easiest way to ensure that this
  62. is the case is to have Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0
  63. (or higher) installed, as this installs the necessary 
  64. software for you. It is not necessary to install the
  65. Active Desktop components of MSIE 4.

  68. USING OR TRYING OUT THE APPLETS
  69.  
  70. No special installation is required. After installing
  71. iSlide Pro Studio, you will find a large amount of
  72. HTML documentation included. Start any of this documentation
  73. and you should find it easy to navigate to large selection
  74. of demonstrations of the applets. iSlide Pro Studio can be
  75. used for making further example implementations.
